Pier/Abutment Locations Dialog

Opens when Pier/Abutment Locations is selected in the Superstructure group.
SettingDescription
Roadway From the dropdown list, select the roadway that the support centerline are to be referenced.
Min. Station This option shows the minimum station value for the roadway alignment and is non-editable.
Max. Station This option shows the maximum station value for the roadway alignment and is non-editable.
Offset to Bridge CL Enter the offset distance in feet that the support centerline are to be located relative to the alignment centerline. The default value is 0.0 ft.
Offset individual support locations
  • If Offset individual support locations is not checked (the default setting when creating a new model from LBS): the Offset to Bridge CL edit field is enabled (changing this field offsets the entire bridge (just like before): superstructure + substructure) but the "Alignment offset" column from the grid view is disabled;.
  • If Offset individual support locations is checked (the default setting when importing a model from OBM): the Offset to Bridge CL edit field is disabled but the "Alignment offset" column from the grid view is enabled allowing the user to offset individual support locations (just like in OBM).
The checkbox option is enabled in both stand-alone LBS version and OBM-component version.
Save DGN

The following button will export the Pier/Abutment locations 2D model directly and accurately to Microstation DGN file format, including layers. Save the DGN file in the desired location and once the export is successful you can browse to file location and open/view in Microstation.

Add Support Press this button to add a new support location. The support will be added to the end of the list displayed in the grid.
Insert Support Press this button to insert a new support before the currently selected support in the grid.
Delete Support Press this button to delete the currently selected support in the list. The support will be removed from the grid and the graphic display.
Number This number is a system generated number that is used to reference the element in the grid.
Type Select the support type from the drop-down list. Options are Abutment and Pier.
Name Names cannot be changed anymore. This name will be carried throughout the system as a reference name for the support. Default names are Support 01, Support 02 …
Input Method Select the desired method to locate the support. For the first support, the only option is location by Station. For all other supports the location can be by station or the distance from any previously entered support.
Station/Distance If the input method selected is Station, enter the station where the support will be located. If the input method is Distance From Previous Support, enter the distance. Positive values will locate the new support to the right of the reference support and negative values to the left.
Skew/Bearing Enter the Skew Angle or Bearing angle of the support. Skew angles are relative to a line normal to the alignment at the support location. Plus values are clockwise and negative counterclockwise. Bearing angles are entered as N/S Deg Min E/W.
Bearing Lines

Bearing lines are where the loads from the superstructure are transferred to the substructure and define the actual location of supports for the superstructure(Leap Bridge Steel and LBC Substructure allows a maximum of two bearing lines per pier and one per abutment). Bearing lines can be edited after members groups of the bridge are defined.

Bearing Line Offsets

Bearing line offsets represent eccentricities from the support centerline. If the bearing line grid has Yes then bearing offset default value can be changed and for No is non-editable.

OK Press OK to close the Pier/Abutment locations window and accept changes.
Cancel Press Cancel to exit the dialog without saving any changes.
